    Althugh she culd nt read r write, Tubman learned frm her parents t d what was right.Thrugh her whle life, Tubman put herself in danger t help ther peple.
    One such act changed her life when she was 13 years ld.Because she helped anther slave, her wner threw a piece f metal at her and it hit her n the head.She was badly hurt.Fr the rest f her life, Tubman's head wund caused prblems fr her.
    When she was abut 25 years ld, Harriet married a free black man named Jhn Tubman.But she was still a slave.Her life was s difficult that she decided t escape.She travelled fr 145 kilmetres, and finally crssed int the Nrth.Tubman became a free wman.
    But Tubman culd nt leave her family enslaved in the Suth.S she travelled back t help them escape as well.Then, she made many trips and guided abut 300 slaves t freedm.Tubman als fught bravely in the American Civil War and in 1865 slavery was nt allwed in the US.
    Harriet Tubman died in 1913.Her memry brings hpe t many peple—especially t thse wh fight fr justice (正義).She encuraged peple t never give up.

    “Crrect!” said Mr Green.
    Mark's lder sister, Daisy, wh had als cmpeted but missed her wrd, applauded with the rest f the crwd. Mr Green presented the trphy (獎(jiǎng)杯) t Mark. Then he immediately ran dwn the steps tward his sister. “I win,” Mark said, shwing the trphy t Daisy. Hwever, Daisy rlled her eyes and said, “Yu're a terrible winner.”
    “What's wrng?” Mark asked.
    “Yu knw, it wasn't cl that yu ignred Alice n the stage. She tried t shake yur hand,” Daisy said.
    Mark shrugged (聳肩) and said, “I didn't ntice. Anyway, cunty bee, here I cme!”
    Tw weeks passed in a blink (轉(zhuǎn)眼間). At the cunty bee, students frm different schls std n the stage. After six runds, the grup f mre than 100 students dwindled (減少) t just seven. This was n regular spelling bee. Mark barely made it thrugh the last rund with a lucky guess n “cnscience”.
    Mark wiped his sweaty palms n his pants. Gary, a fifth-grader next t him, tld him during break that he had studied tw hurs a day t get ready fr this cmpetitin.
