Space is where ur future is—trips t the Mn, Mars and beynd. Mst peple wuld think that aside frm cmets(彗星) and stars, there is little else ut there. But, since ur space jurney started we have left s much trash(垃圾) there that scientists are nw cncerned that if we dn’t clean it up, we may all be in mrtal(致命的) danger.
The first piece f space junk was created in 1964, when the American satellite Vanguard Ⅰ stpped perating and lst its cnnectin with the grund center. Hwever, since it kept rbiting arund the Earth withut any cnsequences, scientists became increasingly cmfrtable abandning things that served n useful purpse in space.
It is estimated(估計) that there are nw ver 500,000 pieces f man-made trash rbiting the Earth at the speed f up t 17,500 miles per hur. The junk varies frm tiny pieces f paint chipped ff rckets t cameras, huge fuel tanks, and even dd items like the millin-dllar tl kit that astrnaut Heidemarie Stefanyshyn Piper lst during a spacewalk.
The majr prblem with the space trash is that it may hit wrking satellites and damage traveling spacecraft(飛船). Mrever, pieces f junk may cllide(碰撞) with each ther and break int pieces which fall back t the Earth. T avid this, scientists have invented several ways fr clearing the sky. Grund statins have been built t mnitr larger pieces f space trash t prevent them frm crashing int wrking satellites r space shuttles. Future plans include a cperative effrt amng many natins t stp littering in space and t clean up the trash already there.

A new prduct frm Micrsft Crpratin can help peple wh have truble seeing. They may be blind r visually impaired. The prduct, an app, is currently available fr free fr Apple’s iPhne and iPad. The app is called Seeing AI. “AI” is shrt fr artificial intelligence, a term fr cmputers with an ability t think and learn like human beings.
Seeing AI uses bth a camera and artificial intelligence t identify places, bjects and peple. The app then annunces what the camera sees s users will knw what is in frnt f them.
Peple can als use Seeing AI t learn wrds in English. With the app pen, yu can pint yur iPhne r iPad at any bject and it will say what the bject is. With Seeing AI, users can hear a descriptin f nt just bjects, but ther peple. It can even tell yu their emtins. It will nt just say that smene is smiling. The app will say that the persn is happy. Or surprised. Or angry. Peple can use the app when ging t a stre r supermarket. It can read prduct bar cdes s users will knw whether a can is filled with fruit r dg fd. Micrsft says Seeing AI will sn be able t identify bankntes s peple knw whether they are hlding a bill that is wrth $ 100 r $ 1.
At restaurants, diners can use the new app t hear a list f drinks and ther menu things. It can recgnize bth fd chices and prices. Peple can use the app t read signs and get directins, althugh Micrsft warns against using it fr navigatin(導(dǎo)航)purpses.

What if we had the pwer t cntrl time, instead f mving frm the past t the present t the future? What if we culd jump, lp and travel thrugh time in a machine? What if we culd g wherever and whenever we pleased?

The mysterius puzzle f time has kept peple debating its nature fr hundreds f years. Science fictin writers have turned it int imaginative stries. Sme scientists have even attempted t explain it using math. This math tries t make the dream f time travel cme true.
The scientist Albert Einstein said that time and space are ne thing. He called it “space-time.” Euclid said that there are three dimensins in space: height, width and depth. A scientist named Hermann Minkwski added time as the furth dimensin.
Einstein intrduced tw ideas that have led t theries abut the pssibility f time travel. The first is relativity. The idea f relativity is that the frce f gravity causes space t bend, which causes time t twist. The secnd idea fcuses n special relativity. The idea is that a traveler mving super-fast thrugh flat space-time will enter the future. Einstein cnsidered time “relative” because it is measured based n where we are n Earth r in space.
Stephen Hawking is a famus scientist. He believes that a time machine will never be built. If it were pssible, he thinks we wuld already knw. If a time machine culd be built, hw cme n ne frm the future has invaded us?
The first science fictin stry with this theme is The Clck That Went Backward by Edward P. Mitchell, which was published in 1881. Since then, thusands f bks, films and televisin shws have explred the idea f time travel, in which sme tls such as phnes, watches, phtgraphs and ld bks take travelers backward and frward.
Will time travel ever happen? Wh knws! The mst imprtant is t keep yur eyes pen and have a sense f wnder.

長難句分析
原句 Hwever, since it kept rbiting arund the Earth withut any cnsequences, scientists became increasingly cmfrtable abandning things that served n useful purpse in space.
分析 本句是主從復(fù)合句,since引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句,that served n useful purpse in space是定語從句,先行詞是 things,that在從句中作主語,從句中謂語動詞是served。
句意 然而,由于它一直圍繞地球轉(zhuǎn),沒有產(chǎn)生任何后果,所以科學(xué)家們變得越來越輕松地放棄那些在太空中毫無用處的東西。
