閱讀理解
Friendship and kindness go hand in hand. A friendship can last forever when friends are kind to each other.
People usually become friends because they have something in common. They share many of the same interests and like to be together. It is easy to be a friend when everything is going great, but a true friend is one who sticks around in both the good times and the bad. A good friend will cheer you up when you are having a bad day. Show a friend you care. Ask the other person, “ what can I do to help you?” and be glad to do it.
Listen to your friends. Be honest. Tell them what is wrong if they have hurt you. Send a card, give them a little present or call them on the phone just to say “ I value our friendship”. Help whenever and wherever you can. Good friendships are not easy to develop, but a friendship can last forever if you are loyal (忠誠的) and sincere. If you are a friend to others, they will usually be a friend to you. Friends make life better.

閱讀理解
Have you ever met that your friends run away from you on the playground? It can be hurtful when things like that happen. You aren’t alone. Many friendships have ups and downs. Here are some useful ways you can take to face it.
You may want to let your friends know how you feel about this. You could start by saying something like, “I see you run away from me on the playground. I feel left out and hurt. Could you please try to include me when you’re playing?” Then listen to what they would say. Talking honestly about your feelings can be really helpful sometimes.
Think about spending time with other friends, too. You might make some new friends through activities like sports and joining some clubs. Having other friends can make it easier if someone won’t play when you want to.
A parent or teacher may have ideas for you, too. Talking things over with someone who cares can often help you feel better.
Good friends help us to be our best selves. They can also teach us important values such as loyalty, honesty and kindness. By surrounding ourselves with positive and supportive people, we can become better people ourselves.
It can be hard to feel different. Everyone is different in some ways, even if we can’t see those differences. And differences aren’t bad! They help make us special.
Tell your friends about your worries, and ask for their support. Talking them over with your friends may help you.

Linda Evans was my best friend -- like the sister I never had. We did everything together: piano lessons, movies, swimming, horseback riding.
When I was 13, my family moved away. Linda and I kept in touch through letters, and we saw each other on special time -- like my wedding and Linda’s. Soon we were busy with children and moving to new homes, and we wrote less often. One day a card that I sent came back, stamped “Address Unknown.” I had no idea how to find Linda.
Over the years, I missed Linda very much. I wanted to share happiness of my children and then grandchildren. And I needed to share my sadness when my brother and then mother died. There was an empty place in my heart that only a friend like Linda could fill.
One day I was reading a newspaper when I notice a photo of a young woman who looked very much like Linda and whose last name was Wagman -- Linda’s married name. “There must be thousands of Wagmans,” I thought, but I still wrote to her.
She called as soon as she got my letter. “Mrs Tobin!” she said excitedly, “Linda Evans Wagman is my mother.”
Minutes later I heard a voice that I knew very much, even after 40 years, laughed and cried and caught up on each other’s lives. Now the empty place in my heart is filled. And there’s one thing that Linda and I know for sure: We won’t lose each other again!
( )1. The writer went to piano lessons with Linda Evans _________.
at the age of 13 B. before she got married
C. after they moved to new homes D. before the writer’s family moved away

got married B. had little time to do so
C. didn’t like writing letters D. could see each other on special time

was in trouble
didn’t know Linda’s address
received the card that she sent
didn’t have a friend like Linda to share her happiness or sadness
( )4. The writer was happy when she _______.
read the newspaper
heard Linda’s voice on the phone

wrote to the woman whose last name was Wagman.
( )5. They haven’t kept in touch ________.
for about 40 years B. for about 27 years
C. since they got married D. since the writer’s family moved away
