Hw did all that mud bury the village in the first place? On Friday, 2,400-ft Mt Kanabag turned int a mudslide after tw weeks f cnstant rain weakened it. The muntain crumbled and the mud fell nt the village Guinsaugn, burying the 1,800 peple wh lived there. Out f the 300 huses in the village, nly 3 were nt cvered by the mud. The village is n a suthern Philippine Island called Levte. Rescue effrts have been difficult because the village takes six hurs t reach frm the nearest airprt.
